Why Buy The Lower Forty
Made for cold dawns, dusty covers, and the kind of stories that live longer than the hunt.
Named after Corey Ford’s beloved collection of Field & Stream essays, “The Lower Forty” is a celebration of simpler days afield. Designed specifically for early season and warm-weather hunts, this 6-inch boot features unlined 20oz. dry wax canvas uppers, oil-tanned leather bottoms, and double vamp construction for strength without the weight. Reviews for The Lower Forty
I was hesitant to buy such a "pretty" field boot that wasn't waterproof but overall I am pleased. I will bird hunt in these on temperate, dry days as long as there aren't too many briars. Will most likely primarily wear these boots to work & about town & for light work in the woods.
Boots were also extremely tight initially as reviews indicate, but they are breaking in nicely after a few days of wear & molding to my feet well. Wish folks would realize the out-of-the box tight fit is by design. If you're on the fence about width, size up for sure.
8" stretchy boot laces were sent with these 6" boots & were way too long so I replaced with quality 45" waxed boot laces. I will also be treating these boots with Obenauf's to gain some water resistance.
I'd say these boots are a good value for a Gokey hybrid at sale point purchased. Comfortable, attractive, lightweight & appropriate for around town use or light field conditions. Definitely not a brush beater on a dewy or wet day in the quail woods!
